What you’ll do

Scrum Master

As a Scrum Master, you will be temporarily responsible to support one or two teams with facilitation of all Scrum events. You will also work with Product Management as well as other Scrum Masters to foster a dynamic Agile environment. You will be expected to mentor Product Owners and developers on Agile/Scrum/Kanban practices so they can become more self-managing.

Agile Coach

As we transition into a model where the engineering teams become more self-managing and developers facilitate their own Scrum events, you will adopt a purely Agile coaching stance to guide both Scrum Masters and developers for multiple teams on how to optimally use Agile practices to consistently deliver high-quality software increments. You will be a key resource in the organization’s Agile transformation and will actively participate in the Agile Community of Practice (CoP).

  • At first, play the role of Scrum Master for one or two Scrum teams, facilitating Daily Stand-up, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Coach development teams to ensure best practices and promote an Agile mindset focused on continuous delivery of business value throughout the organization.
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture by guiding teams to analyze their performance metrics and help them become more predictable.
  • Mentor Scrum Masters and foster a culture of servant-leadership and collaboration.
  • Coach Product Owners on translating the roadmap into a product vision and prioritized backlog, and to continuously manage backlog items, so the team always has 2-3 sprints worth of refined and prioritized scope.
  • Explain story creation and slicing techniques to Product Owners, Scrum Masters and developers, and guide them to work on the smallest possible items that provide business value.
  • Actively participate in the Agile Community of Practice.

  • At least 8 years of experience as a Scrum Master and Agile Coach.
  • Solid understanding of Agile principles and practices.
  • Experience implementing Scrum or Kanban as part of an Agile transformation.
  • Strong leadership and problem solving skills with the ability to influence and lead others.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring and coaching skills based on strong emotional intelligence, empathy, and humility to understand and help solve both team and individual issues.
  • Deep knowledge of facilitation, conflict resolution, and impediment removal.
  • Experience coaching teams with both front-end and back-end developers.
  • Strong working knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
  • Software development experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with Agile transformation of areas other than development (i.e., operations, sales) is considered an asset.

The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and effectively handle working across different teams and priorities. The candidate should have an entrepreneurial mind-set, taking ownership in creating opportunities, aligning to the yearly plan but also being flexible to take advantage of new opportunities.
