Senior Technical Product Manager

AdGear is looking for a full-time Technical Product Manager located at our Montreal office. AdGear is an advertising technology company that has been recently acquired by Samsung Electronics, but operates as an independent, fully-owned subsidiary. This means that we get to work on bigger, more complex projects with stakeholders located across the globe. 

The ideal candidate has solid software engineering experience, but found his or her calling in product management. We see the product management discipline as a layer that allows to translate business objectives into market-proof products, rooted in reality of what is possible given technology and resource constraints. 

Task Summary

  • Gatekeeper and overseer of the Ads Platform roadmap and initiatives, inclusive of its sub-parts (reporting, analytics, inventory, application) and ensure their cohesiveness,
  • Own projects of great complexity that include involvement from other Samsung teams (MTV engineering/product, NY marketing/sales, Suwon, etc.) or external partners,
  • Gather detailed functional requirements from business, marketing and service stakeholders,
  • Collaborate with product marketing, and take responsibility for product rollout announcements and schedule,
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify feature details,
  • Document functional specifications, map transaction flows, and operational processes,
  • Provide day-to-day engineering guidance by delivering and maintaining product requirements documents which align business needs with engineering reality,
  • Maintain a strong grasp on the market ecosystem, competition, product positioning, build up a critical view on the roadmap and initiatives, always readjust and reaffirm, “be a broken record about vision” and help spread it, be able to sell and defend ideas at the highest levels,
  • Participate actively in (and elaborate) initiatives that spread knowledge of the product and roadmap within the company (lunch and learns, demo days, etc.),
  • Take a key role in new employee training on the product team,
  • Build an understanding for legal (privacy/policy/etc), and become a key point of contact for legal and contract discussions and negotiations

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to quickly understand, simplify and communicate complex technical concepts
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent people and management skills allowing to interact with colleagues, cross-functional teams located across multiple cities and continents, and third parties
  • Understanding of the advertising industry and the digital advertising ecosystem
  • Goal-oriented, detail-oriented, ambitious, and strong ability to follow-through on commitments
  • Strong understanding of SQL, Web applications, API design/client-server architectures
  • Up-to-date understanding of market trends and interest in following emerging technologies
  • Hands-on software engineering experience
  • Experience managing reporting and/or advertising products a plus
  • BA/BS, preferably in a technical field such as Computer Science
